The Officers: Upclose

The election of officers for the Batch 98 of SNNHS took place during the decade reunion on December 27, 2008 at the Fiesta Resort in Barangay Ipil.

Present were the few batch members who chose to partake, including the person responsible for the gathering, Class President Shirley Alciso, who were serious about creating a body that would handle the affairs of the batch in the forthcoming activities of the alma mater. I was elected Chairman out of insistence and because I am optimistic, irritatingly optimistic, I accepted the task and thought I am installed to do something.. a difference.

Many of the batch members didn’t personally know who the officers are so I would like to let you know some info about us, especially me who is unpopular and commoner then.



Jun Piong, Chairman

-A graduate of BS Commerce major in Banking and Finance (1998-2002) and Master in Business Administration (2003-2005) at St. Paul University Surigao. Currently connected with 2 companies holding 2 different positions as Administrative Officer/Acting Executive Director of the Surigao Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Most Outstanding Chamber in Mindanao for 2008, a non-government organization comprising Surigao’s businessmen) and HR Officer of the Hotel Tavern Surigao. Previously held a sideline position as Executive Director of the anti-graft initiative, City Coalition for Transparent Accountable Governance, and now its Focal Person for business chamber.



Karen Myl Alinsunod, Vice-Chair for Finance

–currently a public teacher adviser at the Surigao City Elementary School. A graduate of BS Elementary Education from St. Paul University Surigao. Previously earned 1-year teaching in Children’s Garden Learning Center and 1-year private tutorial. She is the sporty and a gigantic teener way back high school years.



Paulo Alfante, Vice-Chair for Internal Relations

–A graduate of BS Secondary Education at Northeastern Mindanao Colleges. 5 years in service as secondary teacher in San Jose National High School. He earned masteral units major in Educational Administration at Bukidnon State University and St. Paul University Surigao. Currently a campus journalism adviser, elected as one of the regional officers as school paper adviser and one of the regional demonstration teachers in Caraga. A trainer in dance sport in national level held at Naga City. Member of Philippine Folk Dance Society and a CPT Scholar at St. Paul University in 2008-2009 in music and dance. Lastly, he is director in Josenians Performing Artists.

– currently a striving businesswoman and a devoted mother.



Maribel Liquido-Heider, Secretary

-Graduated from the degree BS Computer Science at St. Paul University Surigao and a Caregiver course at Philippine Women’s University-Surigao. She is now a businesswoman and traveler with a foreign partner. She previously worked with the SM Cebu and Gaisano Ayala Cebu.

-Presently an Area Supervisor of the Green Bank of Caraga, Inc. He held several impressive promotion records with the company where from being an Account Officer in 2003-2005, he was promoted as Senior Account Officer in 2005-2006 and worked with the Risk Management Unit in 2006-2008. He is a graduate of BS Computer Science from St. Paul University Surigao.


Alex Diaz, Liaison Officer

-A licensed Electrical Engineer who now works with the SURNECO. He graduated with the degree Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Surigao Education Center, from where he previously taught engineering classes. One of the match wizards of the class.

John Philip Anthony Bullo, Liaison Officer

4th year: Roentgen
-A graduate of BS Civil Engineering from Surigao Education Center and 2-year Technical Course major in Architectural Drafting from SSCT. He is now a young budding politician who was elected 4th Councilor of Barangay Cagniog, Surigao City.

-A banker by profession, particularly an Account Officer of the Rural Bank of Placer, Inc. – Placer Branch. He is a graduate of BS Computer Science at St. Paul University Surigao.

Bethsam R. Dulpina, Board Member

-currently working abroad as X-Steel Developer/Design Engineer for Mammut Building Systems in United Arab Emirates. Previously held positions in different fields like working as Office Engineer, Call Center Agent, and Quality Assurance/Quality Check Engineer before finally gaining grounds abroad. She is best known as one of the math wizards of the class, thus, a successful alumnus of the University of Perpetual Help-Rizal in Manila from BS Civil Engineering.


Marie-San Cuartela-Inocian, Board Member

-Settled as a businesswoman and a caring mother as of date since her job as Administrative Officer of the FTC Merchandizing and Distributor in 2002 to 2005. She graduated from the degree BS Computer Science from St. Paul University Surigao.

-One of the travelers of Asia in our batch, having strolled the Great Walls of China and traversed the lands of Bangladesh among others. He is connected with the Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company in Manila as Global Quality Assurance Auditor. He earned his degree of BS Electronics and Communications Engineer from University of San Jose Recolletos, Cebu City.

There, the mere servants of the copious graduates of 1998. We accept the task because we care and we want to make things happen now that we grew mature.

I hope there will be no oppositions or eyebrows rising. Hehe. Cause friends this is not about me, this is not about the officers. This is about the welfare of our batch. So, if there is, please reserve your criticisms at the end of our term and let us look back together if we have not done anything. But for now, your support is what we need towards the realization of our objective in leaving a legacy.

This is a collective effort. Binded, not divided. No commoner or achiever. No special class, no section one or two, no section z. Just Batch 98!
