Agenda:

1. Strategy in gaining more attendance during the fellowships

-Conduct quarterly get-together; expenses to be sponsored by the birthday celebrants within the quarter.

-For the officers and regular attendees to bring in at least 2 batchmates per fellowship. With this, a huge participation from the batch will be gathered. Thus, encouraging the others to partake.

2. Tasks realignment

-In line with the busy schedule of the Chairman, leaving other tasks hanging and idle, the other officers were called to actively partake in the urgent tasks such as the preparation of project proposals.

3. Forging of commitments/tasking

-Consolidation of individual emails c/o Verna

-On Genelyn Salazar’s concern for reapplication of HS Diploma c/o Karen

-Graphics design of batch tarp c/o Claire

4. Priority Project

-With inequitable funds versus the numerous projects identified for implementation, it was resolved to target at least one that is doable and low cost just to get started with an initial project this year. And resolved further to meet with the SNNHS Principal to coordinate a school project this summer that the batch can possibly undertake.

-Ms. Karen Alinsunod suggested to undertake Brigada Eskwela in SUCES, where she teach, where only labor force is needed for repainting and cleaning of the school.

5. Other matters

-Officers to alternately host the fellowship meeting. The hosting will be voluntary and not necessarily according to the order of the position. This is to add homey and closer bonds between the batchmates.

-Request batchmates to send their email addresses for the dissemination of solicitation letters.

No agenda prepared, just fun and fellowship.

In spite the raining and cold weather, the fellowship pushed through.

The meeting was also a reunion for high school bestbuds Marco-Karen-Charlo of the Moodchasers.

Highlights of the Agenda:
1. Donations/Solicitations Updates
-A batchmate working abroad who requested anonymity donated $48.96 (approximately P2,300) to the batch fund. Thank you so much Chinky!
-Online solicitations will be started this February for the batchmates abroad. Several of them who has contact with us have made their pledges and commitments.

2. Maribel's Birthday
-Batch Secretary Maribel Liquido-Heider who celebrated her birthday, January 30, 2009, invited the Batch to a dinner party in her place. Rendezvous: Caltex Bar, 6pm, everyone will convoy. (Update as of republishing this post, Maribel's birthday party was postponed due to health concerns).

3. Proposed Projects
-In addition to the identified projects, Ms. Jesalyn Abonates suggested a Computer Tutorial Training for the teachers in remote areas of the city. An accredited module of TESDA will be followed. While the suggestion is okay, the team would need computer sets for hands-on training of the trainees. Anybody who can offer help?

4. Job Matching
-To address unemployment of the batchmates, everyone who are looking for jobs are requested to send their resumes to the Chairman at snnhs98@yahoo.com for job and qualifications matching.

Other matters:
5. SEC Registration
-Mr. Bullo moved to register the Batch with the Securities and Exchange Commission to formalize the organization and gain official status. This is to qualify for whatever opportunities coming to the batch. More so, that Mr. Chairman found opportunity in forging partnership with the United Nations Volunteer Association, a UN group working for sustainable human development through the spirit of volunteerism.

6. Night Cafe
-As taken up in the previous meeting, the Chairman moved to delay registering with the Night Cafe management to further study its feasibility and while manpower volunteers are being scouted.

7. Colindong's assistance to the Batch
-As previously discussed here in the blog's shoutbox, Ms. Mylene Colindong showed great interest in providing assistance to the projects of the batch. A project profile was asked so that she can present it to the group who is interested in helping us in reaching with the needy in the community.

Minutes of the 1st Regular Semi-Monthly Meeting

MINUTES OF THE SNNHS BATCH 98 OFFICERS’ SEMI-MONTHLY MEETING

January 9, 2009, 8PM, Caltex Bar, Surigao City

Highlights of the agenda:

1. The regular semi-monthly meeting will no longer be limited to officers’ attendance; it will become a fellowship activity for the general membership. This is to encourage participation from the batch members and enjoin them in decision-making. Everyone can join the meeting.
2. Batch Fund update. The SNNHS Batch 98 savings account with the SRBC was opened on January 8, 2009 by Chair Jun Piong and Vice-Chair Karen Myl Alinsunod. Details were posted in the blog.

It was temporarily named to the above officers since opening an organizational account requires a duly notarized resolution. The resolution was already prepared as of the date of the meeting and will be delivered to the SRBC for the needed amendments in the account.

3. Blog updates. The current blog layout was shown to the batch members present during the meeting especially to those who have yet accessed the site. And the proposed incoming articles were presented for solicitation of write-ups. These include the Batch Icons, SNNHS Hymn, and Success Stories of successful 1998 graduates. One identified was Dindo who was said is now a School Principal in Cebu.

The pool of writers will also be identified to do the write-ups for posting in the blog.

4. Solicitation Letters. Draft letter was presented for comments. Bullo commented that the letter should contain a monitoring number to avoid fraud and for tracking.
5. Joining in Night Café for revenue generation. The stall space that will be rented for P150 nightly every Fridays and Saturdays, at 6pm to 2am, shall be named SNNHS Batch 98. The officers and batch members can volunteer to man the stall. Compensation for the volunteers still to be discussed.

6. Unsolicited remarks against a batchmate(s). Bad remarks against the fault and misdoing of other batchmates shall be discouraged. This is to avoid division and conflict and, thus, encourages camaraderie.

Having no matters to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:15 in the evening.

Next meeting will be on January 30, 2009, Friday, 7:30pm. Rendezvous at Caltex Bar.

Highlights of the agenda:

1. BATCH 98 OBJECTIVE: “Leave a legacy: a share of care to remember.”
Being a decade older since high school years, the objective of the batch is to leave a legacy to the alma mater by actively participating not only in its social functions and causes but also to serve the community by conducting worthy and worth remembering activities.
Coming up with a BATCH FUND is the number one agenda and priority activity of the officers. One identified activity to generate fund is to seek help from the fortunate and well-blessed batch-mates, working domestic and abroad. Solicitations will be sent to the following identified batchmates abroad:

Initial fund used to open an account with the SRBC will be coming from the contributions of the officers for 200 each. During the meeting, P1,200 was collected.

To gather ample amount, it was also suggested to conduct revenue-generating activities like raffles and Solidarity Nights.

This fund will be used to finance future activities of batch 98 including but not limited to attendance in yearly alumni homecoming. President Jun Piong is optimistic to gather a good number of attendances during the conduct of these homecomings.

To establish transparency and update the batch with the Batch Fund’s finances, a monthly financial statement will be posted in the batch blog.

2. BATCH 98 BLOG account: http://snnhs98.blogspot.com/ is now functional to serve as the bulletin and medium of exchange of information and updates of Batch 98. The blog will initially contain:
-Welcome message
-Article on Alumni 2008 participation c/o Pauline Alfante
-Article on Reunion last December 27 c/o Pauline Alfante
-The List of Officers
-Roster of 98 graduates by section
-Side bar menu for Batch 98 Friendster and individual account links, Individual Facebook/Multiply/Myspace account links, list of Batch Fund Donors, and other links.

Contributions like write-ups on batch gatherings, class gatherings, travels and gigs with friends, weddings, christenings, and other events are welcome. Assistance from volunteer experts in creating the blog layout is also welcome.

3. BATCH 98 YAHOO! GROUP will also be created to keep in touch with the batch online. Email addresses of batchmates will be gathered.

4. SOCIAL OUTREACH PROGRAM will be conducted to the community once an ample amount of fund is collected. Community programs will include:
-Feeding Program
-Bundle of Joy
-Sponsor a Student Scholarship Program
-Donate a book
-Home-building assistance in tandem with the Gawad Kalinga

5. HAND A JOB is another program aimed at helping unemployed batchmates find a job by establishing linkages with other batchmates for referrals. A database of Batch 98 Profile will be created to identify who are capable of helping the unemployed members of the batch. A link with the working professionals around the country will also be created.

Other matters:
-Fund update to be periodically posted in the website for transparency
-Cost-cutting and wise usage of the fund should be implemented.
-Officers to meet twice a month
